Rhonda Sekhmet Ra

(Pronounced: ron-duh sek-met rah)

Rhonda Sekhmet Ra is a revolutionary spoken word artist & poet born and raised in the city of Wilmington, North Carolina. Her poetry is primarily focused on conveying a message of truth, justice, empowerment, and freedom for people of African Ancestry. Rhonda began to write poetry as a child and has written continuously ever since. In 2014, she began to share her spoken word at open mics in Miami, Florida and gave her first featured spoken word performance in 2015. Since then, she has been invited to perform at a number of venues across the east coast including those in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She has also been featured on various virtual platforms and radio stations.

Rhonda loves writing poetry as much as performing spoken word. She is the author of a self-published poetry book entitled “The Awakening” which includes a dozen poems written on her journey through racial consciousness. She also facilitates poetry writing workshops (Let Your Soul Write) in which she teaches individuals how to overcome barriers to writing and how to express themselves freely. Heavily influenced by her Ancestors and her culture, Rhonda continues to share her soulful poetry virtually and in person with the mission of awakening and inspiring the souls of those listening.
